Course Description

The Foundations of Engineering and Technology is the introductory course for the Engineering and Technology Education pathways. This STEM driven course provides the students with an overview of engineering and technology including the different methods used in the engineering design process. Students will demonstrate the skills and knowledge they have learned through various project based activities while using an engineering design process to successfully master the engineering principles.

Tools and Skills

Students will learn to use the following tools and skills to help enrich their understanding of the engineering process:

Computer Aided Design (CAD), Basic Hand Tools, Table Saw, Band Saw, Welder, Laser Cutter, CNC Router, CNC Plasma Cutter, 3D Printer, Soldering Iron, among many others.

Students will use these tools in the context of design challenges to gain an understanding of both the processes used to fabricate artifacts, and the importance of following the engineering process.
